Baby Randi’s Hats

After debating about what to make for a new baby, I decided on some knit and crocheted hats.  These hats were super easy and fast to make.  Each hat took one evening (at my house an evening is only an hour or two..) and turned out so cute.

The first one is a pink crocheted hat called WindowPane Skull Hat.   I made the top as the pattern suggested and using Bernat Softee Baby in Pink.  After the increase rounds, I changed to hdc instead of sc to make the hat a bit longer.

The second one is knit from a pattern called Simple Newborn Hat with a Touch of Lace.  This hat is so sweet and dainty.  It is sophisticated, but still baby.  I plan to make it again. 

So there you have it.  2 new baby hats for 1 new baby.  I hope that the mother to be likes them!

Not Me Monday – 8/10/09

Today is a day of firsts for me.  First day of student teaching, first Menu Plan post, and first Not Me! Monday.  As I was thinking about what to write tonight, I couldn’t really think of much worthy of the first post, but then it happened….

I did NOT make a phone call knowing full well that my child would scream in a few minutes (because he had been screaming since we came home).  I did NOT yell at my husband for not making said child go in another room while I was on the phone (because obviously I COULDN’T get up and go to another room myself). 

Of course, I am always a kind, generous, and loving wife and mother.  My children never scream because they are always happy.  Um, NOT!

Menu Plan Monday

Ok…so technically it isn’t Monday yet, but I am getting a head start on menu planning for this week.  Menu Plan Monday is brought to us by the blog at Organizing Junkie.  This is my first time posting.  So, here goes:

Monday:  Lemon Pepper Chicken

Tuesday:  Chicken Tacos (cook chicken in Crock Pot)

Wednesday:  Pan Fried Pork Chops

Thursday:  Roast (Crock Pot)

Friday:  *Grocery Day?*  Eat out

Saturday:  Pork Chops and Rice

Sunday:  Spaghetti

Well, I hope my family enjoys some of these meals and I feel so much better that I have written it down!

Etsy is almost up and running….

Well, we have made the jump to Etsy to sell some of our handmade items.  I am so excited to have a way to contribute to my family by my knitting and crocheting.  We found Modern Polka Dot to make our banner and update the blog.  The banner is too cute!

Right now, I just have a few girly baby blankets with crocheted edges, boo boo bunnies, and dishcloths.  I hope to add some more items this afternoon.

And so it begins…..

Student teaching has begun and I am so excited.  I will be in K for the first 7 and a half weeks and then on to 4th grade.  This time reminds me of a quote I once heard:  “Start as you mean to go on.”  I am going to give student teaching my all and start as I mean for it to continue.  I am praying that God will open a door for me to work as soon as I graduate. 

10 years and 3 kids later, I should have a degree soon!
